Psychotherapist
My name is Jessica Smith, and I am a licensed master’s level social worker. I received my BS from the University of Bridgeport in psychology and my MSW from Southern Connecticut State University. Currently, I am a program manager of an intensive mental health facility. I understand that navigating the difficulties of life is often overwhelming. My goal is to help you make positive changes needed to achieve a fulfilling life. I am committed to creating a safe space that is compassionate, non-judgmental, and authentic. Where we can partner and achieve your personal goals.
I am passionate about increasing mental health awareness and offering therapeutic services within marginalized communities. To decrease the disparities in quality mental health services that impact black, indigenous, people of color (BIPOC). Having worked in the mental health field since 2008, I have worked in a variety of settings and with a diverse range of people. Additionally, working with mothers/women is significant to me, as I was a teenage mother who overcame many obstacles.
I utilize therapeutic approaches such as but not limited to, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, strength-based therapy, family systems, person-centered, mindfulness, trauma-focused, motivational interviewing, and attachment-based. I offer a culturally responsive approach.
I have special interest in working with adolescents and adults navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, self-esteem, stress, life changes, parenting, and women’s issues.
